The first edition of Huawei’s program, Huawei Eco-development which aims to help startups in the Middle East and Africa region has been introduced by the company’s Eco-development department.

Via HUAWEI AppGallery, one of the top three marketplaces globally with more than 530 million monthly active users across 170 countries, this first-of-its-kind initiative is designed to support regional companies that have recently launched their mobile app and help them expand their user base.

The selected startups would benefit from the extended support of Huawei ecosystem team after launching their applications on HUAWEI AppGallery using Huawei Mobile Service Core (HMS).

It covers a wide range of topics, including technology integration support to ensure that consumers get the best app possible, free feature placements on AppGallery and directly on Huawei devices to increase user acquisition, and additional support to run dedicated campaigns across the Huawei ecosystem.

The Eco-development team has chosen the first 15 mobile applications to enter the program from a wide variety of Startups in different categories.

The key selection criteria are the startups’ headquarters location (companies based in the Middle East and Africa), the stage of their business life cycle (companies that are still in the early stages of development), and the needs of the users; apps with a clear value proposition from targeted categories that are in demand among Huawei’s users.

“As part of Huawei’s strategy, we are proud to assist startups in achieving their business objectives by providing them with the resources they need from the software development community. Peak Yin, VP of Huawei Egypt, said, “We assume that most of today’s startups will be the common apps of the future, and we will ensure that they are accessible on AppGallery to fulfill our users’ needs.”

Mobile apps from popular categories among users, such as shopping, education, social, sport & fitness, finance, food & drink, navigation & transportation, will be included in the first edition of this initiative. Huawei users can download Breadfast and Homzmart on their devices starting in April, along with many of the other apps from the HUAWEI AppGallery.

This initiative positions Huawei as a proactive supporter of the digital transformation industry, adhering to the global strategy “platform + ecosystem,” which encourages collaboration with app developers to meet the needs of today’s end users. Small businesses that feature local apps are critical to the growth of AppGallery and overall user satisfaction.
