Nigeria’s beleaguered telecom operator, ntel, is poised for a significant revival, thanks to a fresh, undisclosed capital infusion facilitated by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON). This strategic investment aims to reposition ntel for a full-scale relaunch in the first quarter of 2026.

The funding marks a pivotal moment in ntel’s recovery journey, following AMCON’s takeover in 2024 after the company faced financial distress. With AMCON currently holding a 55% controlling stake, the latest capital injection is seen as a crucial step toward stabilizing operations and preparing for the eventual exit of AMCON as a shareholder.

Industry insiders suggest that the revitalization plan includes a hybrid Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) model, allowing ntel to leverage existing network infrastructure while minimizing capital expenditure. This approach is expected to enhance service delivery and competitiveness in Nigeria’s dynamic telecom market.

As ntel gears up for its 2026 comeback, the telecom industry and consumers alike are anticipating the company’s return to the market, hoping for improved services and increased competition in Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.
