ProRataAI, a technology company focused on building AI solutions that respect content creators, has announced the closing of a $40 million Series B financing round. The round was led by Touring Capital, with participation from Mayfield Fund, MVP Ventures, Revolution Ventures, SBI Investment, BOLD Capital, XPV-Exponential Ventures, and Idealab Studio.
The new funding will accelerate the rollout of Gist Answers, an AI-as-a-service solution that enables publishers to embed custom AI search, summarization, and recommendation functionality directly into their websites and other digital destinations. This platform allows publishers to harness the rapid growth of generative AI while maintaining control over their content and user experience.
Gist Answers launched with early-access partners representing over 100 publications, providing a richer, more interactive user experience that drives longer sessions and stronger engagement. The service also works in tandem with ProRata’s Gist Ads platform, which transforms AI-generated answers into high-value ad inventory by placing native, conversational ads adjacent to AI responses.
ProRataAI’s mission is to create a sustainable and ethical AI economy that respects content creators. The company has raised more than $75 million since its founding last year and is committed to building AI solutions grounded in respect for content creators.
With this new funding, ProRataAI plans to expand its team from 75 to about 100 employees, focusing on technical development, customer service, and sales to support the growing demand for its AI-powered tools.
