Simplex, a computer numerical control (CNC) machine manufacturing startup based in Egypt, has raised US$13 million to construct a massive new CNC facility in Saudi Arabia.
Through the use of preprogrammed computer software integrated into the tools, computer numerical control (CNC) is a manufacturing technique that automates the control, movement, and precision of machine tools.
Now that it has raised $13 million, it is opening a factory on a 20,000 square meter property in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, to manufacture high-tech CNC equipment. This is just the beginning of its expansion plans. This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Simplex and the National Industrial Development Centre of Saudi Arabia.
Simplex, a graduate of the Flat6Labs accelerator program, specialized in CNC machine manufacture and offers cutting-edge technological solutions to satisfy clients in a range of industrial industries. With Simplex machines being the go-to option for clients in over 50 industries across 21 countries globally, it has effectively established a solid reputation in both regional and international markets.
“We are grateful for the significant support provided by the Saudi National Industrial Development Centre, which reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing the industrial sector and localizing advanced technology. This factory represents a major step towards realizing our vision of expanding in regional and global markets and increasing our exports of CNC machines,” said Ahmed Shaaban, chairman of Simplex.
“Although we have not yet finalized the target production capacity, we plan to start operating the factory in the first quarter of 2026. This project reflects our commitment to contributing to the development of the Saudi industrial sector, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.” Shaaban added.
The new factory’s debut in Riyadh will mark a major turning point in Simplex’s growth, according to Mohamed Mansour, co-founder and chief commercial officer.
“We see Saudi Arabia as a promising market and a strategic hub for exporting our products to the region and the world. The new factory will enable us to meet the growing demand for CNC machines and enhance our presence in international markets,” Mansour said.
