A new round of the GSMA Innovation Fund is now open for applications to scale digital solutions that provide basic urban services to underserved communities in low- and middle-income countries in Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, building on the success of previous rounds. Start-ups, small to medium enterprises, and social enterprises that use digital technology, especially mobile, to deliver urban services with socioeconomic, commercial, and environmental/climate effect are eligible for grants and additional funding.
These businesses should use digital technologies to provide urban services that have a socioeconomic, industrial, and environmental effect in the following areas:
- Plastic and Waste Management
- Water
- Energy
- Sanitation.
The GSMA Innovation Fund for Digital Urban Services will award successful projects between £100,000 and £250,000 in equity-free funding to scale their innovation over a 15- to 18-month span.
Deadline for application is 2nd July, 2021.
