Egyptian SaaS startup Wuilt has raised $2 million to expand its free website and online store builder across the MENA region. The funding round was led by repeat investors Flat6Labs and MTF VC, with participation from Hub71, JIMCO (Abdul Latif Jameel’s VC arm), Purity Tech, and a group of angel investors.

Founded in 2019 by Ahmed Rostom and Mahmoud Metwaly, Wuilt enables users to set up professional websites and e-stores without any coding experience. In a bold move in April 2025, the company eliminated all subscription fees in Egypt, sacrificing significant recurring revenue to drive adoption. Since then, more than 20,000 merchants have joined the platform.

“We didn’t pivot just to grow—we pivoted to make growth possible for everyone else,” said Ahmed Rostom, CEO of Wuilt. “E-commerce in our region has always been gated by cost, complexity, and outdated thinking. We’ve removed those gates completely.”

Wuilt now generates revenue through a growing suite of value-added services, including Wuilt Shipments, Wuilt Pay, and Wuilt Wallet, moving away from the traditional subscription model.

Looking ahead, Wuilt plans to launch its free platform in the UAE by Q4 2025, followed by expansion into GCC countries and Turkey in Q1 2026. The startup is also developing AI-powered tools to help merchants manage operations, optimize inventory, and scale effectively.

Wuilt aims to become a foundational infrastructure provider for small businesses and social sellers across emerging markets, starting with the MENA region.
