Vodacom DRC and Mondia launch Maternal Health Service Tech Gist Africa Congo News

The Mum & Baby maternal health service is being rolled out throughout the Democratic Republic of the Congo(DRC) by Vodacom, a pan-African telecommunications group, and Mondia, a private mobile technology company fuelled by innovation.

Mum & Baby is a free mobile health intervention service that offers maternal, neonatal, and child health information to Vodacom DRC subscribers.

In order to promote good health practices among pregnant women, mothers, partners, and caregivers.

Although, Mondia produces Mum & Baby’s localized material, which includes expert posts, videos, and information-sharing SMS messages in the local language.

In the areas where it operates, the Mum & Baby service has a positive socioeconomic effect.

“Accessing healthcare services in Africa can be difficult, and Mum & Baby offers a free and easy way of accessing instant expert advice where it is most needed,” said Mondia Group CEO Dr. Amadeo Rahmann of the collaboration.

Also, We expect the Mum & Baby service, which draws on Mondia’s vast networks and experience in content creation and curation, to continue to have a positive social impact wherever it is implemented.”

One of the United Nations (UN)17 Sustainable Development Goals is to ensure healthier lives and promote nutrition for all ages.

With the achievement of this aim, particularly as it relates to infant health, being jeopardized by the burden of COVID-19 on African healthcare systems.

According to the World Health Organization, about 300,000 African babies die on the day of their birth each year.

The majority of the time as a result of insufficient maternal and neonatal treatment.

“Mum & Baby has evolved into our flagship motherhood-focused health and wellness brand.

Mum & Baby was launched in South Africa in 2017 and had 1.2 million registered subscribers as of August 2018.

The service will be rolled out across Lesotho again later this month.
