The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has signed a Record of Discussion with Rwanda’s Finance and Education Ministries for the US$7.1 million Rwanda Coding Academy (RCA) Capacity Development Project.
The government will contribute an additional $800,000 to the project, bringing the total to $7.9 million.
This signing ceremony was also done virtually in accordance with the existing health safeguards in place to prevent Covid-19 from spreading.
The Ministers of Finance and Economic Planning, the Minister of Education, and the Country Director of KOICA Rwanda all signed the R/D.
Agriculture, education, and ICT are the three major sectors of this initiative, according to Mr. Chon Gyong Shik, Country Director of the KOICA Rwanda Office. RCA started in 2019, modeled after Korea’s Software Meister High School, with the goal of developing skilled software developers who can help Rwanda’s industrial and economic development.
The KOICA Rwanda office launched in 2011 and currently manages ten active projects in the nation.
