Adesto Technologies Corporation has begun running a pilot test of its Non-Volatile Memory and power line communication chips in Smart Meters. The test is targeting utility providers in Tunisia, Egypt, and the Middle East. Adesto Technologies Corporation is an embedded system company based in California.
The smart meter is jointly produced by the joint effort of the Société Industrielle d’Appareillage et de Matériels Electriques, SIAME, Adesto technologies, and Innov-Alliance-Tech I@T.
The smart meter works on a high speed, reliable and long-range communication powerline grid dubbed G3-PLC. This highspeed grid makes use of Adesto configurable power-efficient G3-PLC certified SM2400 power line communication modem. It also makes use of a customize Adesto Quad SPI flash memory.

The Chief Executive Officer, SIAME Monji Jelassi noted that the need to create superior products and technology for its energy grid spurred the partnership between the three companies.
SIAME will leverage the superior performance of Adestos devices’ to provide reliable communication over power lines in Tunisia. It will also capitalize on the partnership to launch Tunisia’s first smart electric meters
Adesto has strong expertise in providing smart grid and metering solutions. It will use this skill to supply innovative and reliable products that can aid smart grid deployment in Africa.
