Bandim Online Wins Guinea Bissau Seedstars Pitch

Guinea-Bissau based agritech start-up, Bandim Online has won Seedstars Bissau pitch event after defeating four other start-ups. For winning the pitch, Bandim Online will represent Guinea-Bissau at the global Seedstars World Summit in Switzerland next year where it stands to win up to $1-million in equity investments.

Seedstars World, which is part of the Seedstars Swiss group runs the global startup competition covering over 65+ emerging and developing markets, identify the best seed-stage startups, give them pitch training and award the winners with an opportunity to compete at the global Seedstars Summit.

Seedstars World has selected nine 9 startups from 9 African cities for its its Summit which will be held in Switzerland next year with Bissau and Maputo being the latest cities. The seven (7) other cities include; Harare, Accra, Kigali, Kampala, Kinshasa, Nairobi, and Dakar.

Bandim Online was announced winner for its Agri-tech solution which aims to mitigate producer losses by getting products to market quicker with the best prices.

The start-up also got a ticket to the regional Seedstars Summit which will be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania later this year.

Cleantech start-up, Ubuntu and opinion platform, Igope came second and third respectively.

Bandim Online, currently in their Beta Testing Stage, have developed a Web and USSD platform that allows customers to have visibility of the products available from producers and thus facilitate commercialization. Solving a problem where producers lose more than 50% of their harvest due to lack of access to the local and international market.

Start-ups that also participated at the pitch event include: Inovsat GW, Ubuntu 2S, Get Knowledge and Instituto Guineense de Opinião Publica e Estatística (Igope).
