Call for Applications: Google Africa Certifications Scholarship for Developers

Google has taken a step further from inspiring new developers to getting them prepared for future jobs. This, they intend to achieve from the google certifications scholarship that is meant for developers across Africa. Certification centers on providing 100,000 African developers with training that will aid them in building world-class apps. The certifications will be built around job-task analysis and skills that employers look out for in developers.

Google aims to offer thirty developers 1000 grants and scholarship opportunities for Mobile Web, Associate Cloud Engineer, and the Google Associate Android certifications. Applicants will receive training from Google partners Pluralsight and Andela- who will offer learning curriculum that will prepare learners for entry and intermediate roles as Software developers.

Google’s initiative over the years has focused on digital skills training, economic opportunity, education and support for African startups and developers. This, they do to boost the developer ecosystem. According to William Florance, Global Head, Developer Training Programs Google aims to bridge the gap of unemployment in the African continent.
