Uber Launches New Safety Features in South Africa

Ride-hailing app, Uber has launched new safety features for its South Africa’s customers and drivers. The new features are being introduced in 38 countries and will be roll out in the next few weeks to riders, drivers and delivery partners using the app across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The company announced that the Safety Toolkit is aimed at reducing risk that come with using the app. “These new safety features will be a phased roll-out and not all riders, drivers and delivery partners will have access to the features immediately,” Uber said.

The new feature includes: Emergency button, Trusted contacts, Safety centre, and Speed alerts.
