The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) is working with the National Assembly to pass a law that will regulate its social media.
Recall earlier on Techgist Africa, we reported some unsuccessful attempts by the Nigerian Senate to enact laws on social media regulation in 2017, they have made another attempt to regulate the Nigerian Internet space.
However, NCC Controller in charge of Kano zone, Tanimu Bawa during the Commission’s Consumer Conversation Programme held last week, he said that the misuse of the social media needed to be checked and regulated. He stressed that the platforms must be censored to ensure peace and stability in its existence.

“The commission has within 18 years regulated and registered 162 million mobile phone users nationwide… We have raised our broad band penetration to 22 per cent for data coverage from the previous 13 per cent.” he said.
