A Tanzanian based Tech Company has used artificial intelligence to produce an App that delivers learning content to students who couldn’t access internet or textbooks.
Mtabe was created by Given Edward alongside a team that consists of Software developers, educators and entrepreneurs. Prior to this creation Edward had already launched a similar App MyElimu in 2014. An Edtech discussion forum that allows peer learning and also allows Tanzanian Secondary School Students to discuss what they study in school.
The plan is for Mtabe to be accessible to students across Tanzania, said Given Edward. Only a quarter of secondary school students in Tanzania has access to e-learning platforms and availability of teachers and learning materials is still a challenge despite a free education policy in Tanzania.

Edward plans to introduce the App nationwide and so far more than 15000 students who use Mtabe have posted notable progress. He hopes that the upcoming global competition will draw him closer to his mission which is to help students in rural Africa enjoy e-learning.
Mtabe partners with the Institute of Education to ensure that top quality content are delivered. It covers all aspect of learning, providing instant, curriculum-aligned learning content to students via SMS, to assist young people who don’t have access to light and internet learn. Mtabe was launched officially as an app and SMS platform.
