Uber Unveils Bus-Booking Service in Egypt

After reporting yesterday that Dubai based ride-hailing company, Careem launchesd a bus-booking service in Egypt, its major competitor, Uber is also reported to launch a bus-booking service in the country’s capital, Cairo.  

The company aims to tap into the city’s sprawling low-income market with this service. Alongside the launching, they also announced a new Uber Lite app that will allow users with low connectivity to order for trips in the Middle East from 2019.

Uber CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi said, “There are millions of people in Egypt and around the world who still face real barriers using Uber,” maintaining that the new products will make the company’s services more accessible.

Egypt and the Middle East region are hugely important to Uber and we will continue to heavily invest in this part of the world,” he said.

Khosrowshahi added that the service will be the cheapest of Uber’s services in Cairo.

The firm has been testing the new service since September and will, in the next couple of months, expand across Cairo.
