WorldRemit launched its services in South Africa. The platform, which is globally known for its low-cost money transfer services will allow transactions to up over 145 countries including Zimbabwe, Mozambique, the United Kingdom, India and Pakistan. With the WorldRemit app, Users will be able to send money around the globe in an instant. WorldRemit announced this development in a tweet on the 16th of January.
The solution is a welcome one for South Africa as it is the most expensive G20 Country from which to send money to anywhere else in the world, since it has an average 15% cut for sending as little as $200. WorldRemit, on the other hand brings this down to as low as 5% for the customers. The fees and exchange rates are displayed on the App so users have the luxury of choice on what payout method benefits them the most. They can choose bank transfer, cash pickup and even mobile money.
“We are delighted to start this next phase of our growth, enabling customers in South Africa to send digital money transfers to 145 countries worldwide including Zimbabwe and Mozambique,” WorldRemit Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Andrew Stewart said.

The decision to launch in South Africa is a solid one as they are among the World top ten countries that receive money from the platform, this is also according to Andrew Stewart. World Remit settled in a new workspace in Johannesburg and they are looking to expand their base in the continent.
The service makes it very easy to engage in direct and low cost transfers from mobile phones, eliminating the stressful process of sending money abroad through loved ones. A big advantage WorldRemit offers is the transparency in its process, users at both ends receive notifications every step of the way and senders can also track their transactions in real time.
