AfriLabs Adds 27 New Hubs to Its Networks

AfriLab — a tech hub and innovation center network in Africa, has added 27 new hubs in six African countries. The new hubs were added to 12 new cities in the countries of Guinea, Mauritius, South Sudan, Libya, Tunisia, and Botswana. The addition of the new hubs brings the total of its African hubs to 158 whilst expanding its reach to 45 African countries.

Anna Ekeledo, Afrilabs Executive Director, said they are excited to have new members in their ever-growing family. According to her, these expansions bring the organization closer to achieving the goal of penetrating all 55 African countries.

The new hubs are;

West Africa: Roar Nigeria Hub, Ennovate Lab, Nicademia Hub, TVCLabs and Devamplify Hub for Nigeria, Ocean Innovation Centre for Cameroon, Grassroots Hub for Ghana, Burkina Business Incubator for Burkina Faso, Incubateur Saboutech for Guinea, and Mali Business Innovation and Incubation Centre for Mali.

East Africa: FabLab Winam, Pangea Accelerator and Mt Kenya Hub for Kenya, Ndoto Hub and Smart Lab for Tanzania, Business Network for Mauritius, Design Hub Kampala for Uganda, and HarHub For Somalia.

South Africa: Impact Hub Harare and Startup Bulawayo for Zimbabwe, and the Botswana Innovation Hub for Botswana.

North Africa: GESR-MEK Cairo and Maamal for Development for Egypt, Le Wagon for Morocco, Cozi Co-working Cafè Djerba for Tunisia, Tatweer Research Benghazi for Libya, and Ataka Hub for South Sudan.

Design Hub Kampala founder, Jantien Zuurbier, said the new membership with AfriLabs is a new opportunity to expand beyond the creative sector across Africa. They look forward to sharing synergies between tech and creative ecosystems.
