Airtel Africa Partners Ecobank to Offer Mobile Financial Services across Africa

One of the biggest Telcos in Africa, Airtel Africa has partnered with Pan-African banking group, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated. The partnership was strategically formed to offer mobile financial services and a variety of digital services, subject to regulatory approval in different countries.

Through this partnership, Airtel Africa and Ecobank will provide Airtel Money subscribers access to Ecobank’s real-time digital financial services for international money transfers, in-store merchant payments, deposits, withdrawals, loans, savings and others.

Ecobank corporate account holders will be able to make bulk disbursement such as payroll payments to Airtel Money customer’s wallets. Ecobank will issue both virtual and physical cards to Airtel Money customers. The end goal is to offer convenience value-added services to both customers across Africa.

Airtel Africa provides telecommunication services such as mobile voice, data bundles and mobile money services across 14 African countries. On the other hand, Ecobank Transnational bank operates banking subsidiaries in 33 countries. It provides consumer, commercial, corporate, investment to about 20 million customers across Africa. 

Both companies aim to offer affordable and innovative solutions for customers across the continent.
