Andela Partners Github to Host 2019 CodeNaija Hackathon

Andela has partnered GitHub’s Black Cat to hold the 2019 edition of the CodeNaija Hackathon. The training is aimed at empowering Nigerian Software Engineers in their cause to produce tech solutions for the social good.

The hackathon is focused on Nigerian software engineers that create prototype solutions for combating challenges around finance, healthcare, education, and agriculture in Africa. The training will provide these teams with access to bigger tech companies API, and help them gain access to tech companies like Flutterwave and GitHub’s community.

In a blog post shared by Andela, the tech company noted that the Hackathon’s major goal is to promote Nigerian software engineers to showcase engineering craft as they build technology solutions for social good. It further explained that partners and sponsors share a common interest in enabling software engineers to build tech solutions that will help Africans solve some of its biggest challenges.

Participants at the Hackathon will pitch their solutions to a panel of judges that consist of GitHub, Microsoft, and Flutterwave. Winners of this pitch will be awarded various prizes and the topmost winner will have the opportunity to pitch ideas to Microsoft Venture Capital Firm, M12.
