Following earlier announcements by Apple in November on the Apple Small Business Program initiative to accelerate innovation and help the next generation of app developers, participants (app developers that sell digital goods and services on the app store) are provided with discounts on commissions for paid apps and in-app purchases.

The program offered developers that earn less than $1 million per year a reduction in fees from the standard rate at 30% to 15% starting on 1st January 2021 given specific terms and conditions for qualification to participate.

However, to their surprise and excitement, a few eligible developers have begun receiving notice from Apple on the reduction in their commission charges to 15% for App store sales weeks before the expected program commencement date in 2021.
