Arinifu, a Kenya-based startup has created a smart chicken brooder, a tech-enabled device to equip poultry farmers in Kenya.

The act of brooding involves managing day old chicks to about 8 weeks. It is the process of providing heat and other necessary care for it during its early growth period. Most poultry farmers encounter high mortality rates of chicks due to inadequate heat supply during brooding. Anirifu’s smart brooder device will, therefore, combat this issue.

The Smart brooder is built with a custom algorithm that makes its usage easy. The equipment also makes use of an environment control-remote that has several sensors to document brooding space and time.

Arinifu’s Co-founder, George Chege said the company’s vision is to enhance poultry farmer’s output by providing access to new, affordable and efficient technologies. Chege also said the device will help farmers receive better returns on their poultry investment while improving their living standards.

The equipment also has SMS/Blackout alert notification systems incorporated into it to alert farmers of any malfunctions during the brooding process. The Smart Brooder ensures that brooding conditions are automatically regulated to combat high mortality rates and save farmers the time taken to constantly monitor the poultry farms.
