German automobile manufacturer that designs, engineers, produces, markets and distributes luxury vehicles, Audi has introduced a VR-enabled Customer Private Lounge (CPL). This was unveiled at the Audi Centre Centurion in Gauteng, South Africa. The lounge will grant buyers in SA access to virtually modify and test-drive any Audi model.

Customers will leverage this service to get a realistic experience of configured cars from beginning to the last detail. The lounge will also allow customers to have a one and one meeting with the sales consultant in a digital environment. This feature will grant the buyer access to a detailed image of the vehicle before they make their purchase decision.

Trevor Hill, head of Audi SA, clarified that digitalization is a huge part of Audi’s global corporate strategy. He stated that CPL allows customers to digitally customize their car in great detail, from choosing the vehicle color to adding features of their choice through VR.

This CPL process will change the traditional process of configuring or ordering a vehicle within a dealership through digital elements. This feat is the first of its kind in South Africa; although Jaguar Land Rover introduced something similar on their website in  017.
