The networking industry is evolving. Modern technology solutions integrate several computers from a central location. Wide Area Network (WAN) hardware like routers and firewalls are used for networking computing systems across several geographic areas to connect businesses.

In Africa, companies like BCX provides end-to-end digital solutions for business connectivity. They have offices in Botswana, Mozambique, Nigeria, Namibia, Zambia, and Tanzania. BCX has launched a new Wide Area Network (WAN) called “Software-defined WAN (SD-WAN)”. The new solution is a single management platform for businesses to manage physical and virtual devices from a central controller.

The SD-WAN is hosted on CISCO’s technologies to assist companies to simplify network and management services. It mitigates the disadvantages associated with traditional networking solutions. Clayton Naidoo, the General Manager of Sub Saharan Africa, said the SD-WAN is a more advanced solution, that allows customers to connect business networks in different locations, delivers application optimization and offers secure end-to-end policy enforcement.

The solutions are divided into three categories:

The Cisco Meraki SD-WAN is a cloud-managed IT solution, which allows small businesses to manage their network and devices from a single console. It offers a software-defined branch with security, SD-WAN, switching, Wi-Fi and more in an easy-to-use cloud interface.

The CISCO Viptela SD-WAN solution offers digital and cloud transformation for larger business enterprises to securely connects users in multiple locations. It also enables simplified management and operations for large-scale enterprise networks.

The SD-WAN Express is affordable, secure connectivity for any access at any business branch. It offers network installation and integration into wide area networks, powered by SD_WAN management routers deployed at each branch.
