The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, UNICEF is calling tech startups that provide education or employment solutions to apply for its $100,000 equity-free Innovation Fund. This will be used to bridge the learning and connectivity gap in the globe.
Notably, the UNICEF Innovation fund has successfully issued out $17.9M to various startups. Startups that provide products for youth received $2.6m, $1.8m on real-time information startups, $1.5m on Infrastructure, Fund Management received $2.7m, Technical Assistance 2.5m while operational Research got 1.2m.
Since its debut in 1946, UNICEF has shown a keen interest in providing emergency food and healthcare to mothers and children globally. The group relies heavily on government and private donors.

The UNICEF Innovation Fund provides assess to grow open-source solutions that can improve children’s lives. The fund also contributes financial and technological support to innovative technology startups. It provides startups with $100, 000 early-stage investments for children technologies developed by UNICEF country offices or companies in UNICEF programme countries.
By providing flexible funding to early-stage innovators, UNICEF can quickly assess and fund-grow open-source technology solutions that have the potential to positively impact the lives of vulnerable children.
The 2019 edition of the Innovation fund is currently open globally for application. Applications will close on the 30th of September. Startups interested can apply here.
