Cell C Partners Explore Data Science Academy to Train Africa Students

Cell C has partnered Explore Data Science Academy in South Africa to launch Cell C Data Scientists. The partnership is in a bid to train African youth in the field of Data Science. It also aims to provide funds and develop the skills of 24 youth globally in the field of mathematics and science.

The skills acquisition gap has been a major challenge in the Africa Continent. A study conducted by Accenture on Creating South Africa Future Workforce stated that about 5.7 million jobs are at risk in the country. This is due to the lack of adequate skills.

The programme, therefore, seeks to up skill the South Africa workforce and reshape the work activities in the country. Cell C data scientist programme will provide the youth with essential skills that will help South Africa thrive in the 4th Industrial revolution.

The Human Capital Develop & Transformation Officer, Cell C Juliet Mhango noted that there is a growing demand for digital skills globally. This niche will be filled by the Cell C data scientist programme and meet the demand for digital skill development in the country. It will also provide an innovative model for learners to acquire new knowledge about Data Science.

Meanwhile, ten employees from Cell C will also take part in the programme to garner knowledge in the field of data science.
