Crowdyvest’s Plentywaka commences Operations in Lagos, Nigeria

Crowdyvest—an impact-driven platform that connects individuals with sponsorship opportunities that yield high returns, has launched PlentyWaka. The platform is commencing operation today the 16th of September 2019, in Lagos, Nigeria.

PlentyWaka is an on-demand bus sharing startup that leverages technology to offer commuters the opportunity to move around Lagos in style and safety. The platform allows users to book a ride from their desired bus-stops to their desired destination. It offers its riders access to real-time notifications regarding their rides.

The platform offers individuals the opportunity to sponsor project units in the transportation sector and receive returns at the end of the sponsorship.

Plentywaka is looking to create a system that will help commuters get to their destination in-time without facing the regular bustle and tussle of the Lagos traffic. It will commence operations with 25 buses, 25 drivers and 25 vehicle assistance with aims to engage over a thousand people within a year. The buses pilot route is the Ajah-CMS route, with aims to expand across the state soon.

Onyeka Akumah, Founder and CEO of Crowdyvest, said the launch of PlentyWaka allows them to focus on “innovation and better infrastructure in transportation for everyday Lagosians”.

Speaking on expansions, Afolabi Oluseyi, VP, Operations, Plentywaka, told Techgistafrica they plan to expand their services across the state. He said they will work with a robust system that will allow them to leverage the Obalende and CMS garage to off-load and on-board commuters to and from the Island and the Mainland.

When asked how they aim to manage their competition, Afolabi told Techgistafrica that the environment is big enough for everyone to thrive. He noted that Plentywaka is looking to attain a certain goal which is “creating a better public commuting system for Nigeria as a whole.”

He said they do not see others as their competition, as they are operating a partnership module that aligns with the United Nations SDG goals. These goals, focus basically on impacts and it is more than just offering public commuting system. He said they are impacting on drivers, by creating an enabling environment for them to thrive from employees of labor to employers of labor. This system will help create more employment for the general masses.

Plentywaka is integrated with modern payment solutions that enable card payment and an in-app wallet payment system. This in-return encourages cashless transactions and aligns with the Federal Government’s financial inclusion policy.

Commuters on Plentywaka will be able to plan their journey daily, weekly and monthly. The platform offers only a wait time of 3 minutes. Once a booking is done, a trip card which will release a trip time will be generated. Commuters will then leverage the real-time notifications to track their buses. This system ensures that Drivers do not communicate with their commuters. Plentwaka is available on the Google Playstore and iOS store for downloads and new commuters will enjoy two free trips.
