The Distributed Power Africa (DPA), a subsidiary of Econet, is now building charging stations for electric vehicles throughout Zimbabwe.

This new development came about after a decision to encourage the use of electric vehicles was made by the government of Zimbabwe.

The government of Zimbabwe believes that Electric vehicles are one of the solutions that can help to improve the control of carbon emissions, with conventional combustion engine vehicles and other human activities leading to climate change.

In Msasa (Harare), DPA has three charging stations already installed and there are 17 others that are being installed across the country at different locations.

As a part of its corporate and commercial solar installations, DPA is also offering electric vehicle charging stations. This will definitely allow companies to substitute battery electric vehicles or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles, for some of the vehicles in their fleet.
