Trolley, a grocery delivery platform based in Cairo has secured a $200,000 seed funding. A Kuwait individual investor led the funding round.

Trolley was founded in 2018 and launched in January 2019 by Mohamed Abbas. The startup uses a hybrid model to sell and deliver grocery across Cairo and Giza seamlessly via its web and mobile platform.

The startup is looking to expand to Alexandria and two more Egyptian cities by mid-2020. They plan to expand their team, develop their websites and mobile apps. Trolley will also dedicate a huge part of the investment to its marketing efforts.

According to Mohamed Abbas, the founder, and CEO of Trolley, they leverage a hybrid model and also own and store a part of their inventory in warehouse and distribution centres. Trolley relies on small offline grocery chains for the rest of their products.

Mohamed also recounted that they sell more than 20,000 products, of which 500 of these products are owned and stored in their warehouses.

The startup owns its fleet that delivers groceries to its customers across Cairo and Giza. They offer two-hour delivery across these two cities and currently completes about 400 orders monthly. About 30% of the products are delivered from its warehouses while the rest are sourced from partners. Trolley currently employs over 20 employees in Egypt.
