Engie to Lead Operation and Maintenance of Orange’s Data Centre in Côte d’Ivoire

Orange Services Group (GOS) an arm of Orange, chose Engie– a French multinational energy company, to handle their data centre in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. Engie will be in charge of the operation and maintenance of GOS data centres.

This contract will see Engie implement preventive maintenance of all the data centre buildings. The maintenance will cover; the high voltage, electrical substations, fire alarm systems, cooling, and air conditioning, Central Management Technology, security and control, video surveillance and access control. Engie will leverage on this contract to boost its energy services in Western and Central Africa.

The data centre is located at the Free Zone area of Grand-Bassam, Abidjan. It has a power capacity of 1.3MW, with a design that ensures reliability and energy optimization of data storage. The data centre in Abidjan is one of the few data centres owned by GOS that has Level IV classification. Level IV classification simply means that the data centre has all it takes to ensure continuity of service in all circumstances.

Formed on the 22nd of July 2008 by the merger of Gaz de France and Suez, Engie is a French multinational electric utility company. The company is headquartered in La Défense, Courbevoie, France. They operate in the energy transition, electricity generation, and distribution, natural gas, nuclear, renewable energy and Petroleum. They currently have over 160,000 employees.
