Ethiopian Airlines Deepens Its Offerings with WI-FI Connectivity

Ethiopian Airlines has deepened its offerings with the launch of Wi-Fi connectivity for its passengers. It also introduced a new on board offer to improve its customer service. Passengers on the Airbus A350 fleet will experience this new service offering firsthand.

The airline leveraged the Ka-band satellite broadband technology to roll-out the service. The new service will be available to a few Ethiopian Airlines passengers immediately with expansion to follow later.

Founded in 1945, Ethiopian Airlines is Africa’s biggest and the most profitable carrier. It flies to about 95 international destinations across 50 African cities and the 5 continents in the world. 

According to, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde Gebre Mariam; this addition is the carrier’s persistent efforts to add to passengers’ comfort whilst keeping up with the technology of the day. She said, “As a customer-centric airline, we will remain focused on continuous service excellence, taking advantage of emerging technologies and infrastructure.”

Passengers can purchase the Wi-Fi at the Ethiopian Airlines’ sales outlets, boarding gates, in-flight and also via ShebaMiles—a platform run by the national carrier.
