Facebook has appointed Derya Matras as the new Regional Director for its business in the Middle East and Africa. The appointment will have her lead Facebook’s operations, and grow its economic and social impact across both regions.
Meet Derya Özkaya Matras
Derya joined Facebook in 2015 as the Turkey Country Director. She led the Turkey team that engages agencies and brands. Derya helped them make the most of the Group Applications.
Before working with Facebook, Derya served as an Associate Partner in McKinsey and the Vice President of Retail and Entertainment Group, Dogan Holding. She currently holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Degree in Electronics Engineering from Bogazici University.

Matras has expressed her delight in being appointed as the new Regional Director. She remarked that the position will make her lead these unique regions and build a new Facebook experience for citizens. It will also help the company to create a meaningful method that will improve people’s lives, support millions of businesses, and create job opportunities.
She further describes the appointment as a recognition of the movement for diversity in business leadership and gender balance.
The Vice President of Facebook in Europe and the Middle East, Nicola Mendelsohn also mentioned that the appointment was as a result of Derya’s wealth of experience and pioneering spirit.
With the new appointment, Derya will contribute to driving significant economic and social value in both regions.
