Nigeria’s leading agrotech platform, Farmcrowdy has partnered with the Oyo State government to boost agribusinesses and empower 50000 small scale farmers in the state. The Governor, Engr Oluwaseyi Makinde announced that the state, located in the south-western part of Nigeria, has partnered with the digital platform to boost its agro-economy.

The partnership was revealed at the official launch event attended by executive cabinet members and commissioners of the state, Farmcrowdy executives, and some representatives from the Institute of International Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and Technoserve in Ibadan, the state capital.

Speaking about the partnership, Governor Oluwaseyi Makinde said that they will explore public-private partnership models to achieve their aim for agriculture. “I believe the partnership will be mutually beneficial to Farmcrowdy and the people of our state,” he said.

Also at the event, Onyeka Akuma the Founder of Farmcrowdy said, “We are investing in agribusiness in Oyo State within the next three years and connecting no less than 50,000 small scale farmers in the state with solutions to various bottlenecks mitigating against the growth of their farm businesses. This would surely have a positive impact on their lives and in the end, everyone would be happy with the outcome of the project.”

Farmcrowdy is a digital agro platform that connects farmers in Nigeria with fund crowded finance form individual and corporate investors. They have a record of engaging over 25000 farmers to cultivate 16000 acres of farmland across 14 states in Nigeria. They have raised over 2500000 chickens and cows to supply 30% of the beef eaten in 3 major eateries in Lagos State alone.
