Google is using a series of animated Doodles to honour the essential workers that are working tirelessly amid the global COVID-19 pandemic. It is using its worldwide platform to thank them daily over a period of two weeks.
Google Doodles are created when the customized logo is transformed into characters and items that portray a theme. Google is using these illustrations to thank healthcare workers, delivery drivers, teachers, cooks, shop attendants and others providing support services during the ongoing pandemic.
In a statement about the scheme, a spokesperson for Google said: “Over the next two weeks, our Doodles will honor other essential frontline workers, including healthcare workers, first responders, and the many people keeping services like sanitation, food service, public transit, schools, and more up and running. Thank you to all the people who are working to save lives and keep communities safe during this pandemic.”
Before COVID-19, Google uses its Doodles to celebrate festive seasons, events and historic figures. The COVID-19 initiative kick-started last week and will last till the end of this week. Google committed $50 million to the global COVID-19 response. It also launched a “COVID-19 Information and Resource” website to provide information, insights, and links to health resources.
