The Nigerian startup was launched back in March of 2011. Nitestay collects travelers through both online and social media platforms or form a mobile phone to book hotel accommodations.
Nitestay originally could connect people to hotels in all 36 states of Nigeria. Now, it has spread across Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and The Gambia.
At the start of its launch back in 2011, the platform was the first of its kind. Other strong and similar startups such as Hotels.ng and Jovago have since provided strong competition for the aspiring startup.
Members registered at Nitestay will be issued a Nitestay loyalty card that they can collect points at each time they stay at a hotel that is connected through the platform.
These points, when accumulated enough, can be exchanged for items in the Nitestay marketplace. The loyalty program will reward long term members even further by upgrading them to the elite class which will provide extra benefits for them.
The co-founder and CEO of Nitestay, Femi Okanla has said, “Competition has intensified since the company’s launch due to the entry of competitors like Jovago and Hotels.ng. However, the online hotel booking industry is still growing and we believe there is still room for everyone to be successful in the industry.”
The platform’s dream early on was to originally spread their service through West Africa first, then spread all throughout Africa. They have started to achieve their goals, targeting realistic and attainable markets.
Travelers can pay online or at the hotel and collect more points on their loyalty cards to save up for more rewards.
The team of Nitestay plans to grow even further and spread out more to achieve its goals.
