Instagram– a popular social network app, has announced a change to its account disabling policy on the 18th of July 2019. The social networking app noted that it will notify its users of possible ban of their accounts before it actually takes place.

This new modification will address the situation that has left Instagram users stranded. Rather than just being locked out of the Instagram app without prior notification, users will now be in the know why their account will be/was disabled.

This modification will notify users of possible ban, and also give them the chance to appeal for their deleted content in some cases. Users will be able to appeal for moderation around the company’s nudity, bullying, harassment, hate speech, drug sales and counter-terrorism content policies. Instagram is looking to expand its appeal capabilities to more categories in the near future.
