Hello Guys,
Welcome to another beautiful day in September. It is our joy to bring you the Big 5 Daily.
Enjoy!
The Kenya Investment Authority is in partnership with two companies from Japan and Australia to construct a $150 million power plant in Kenya. This project was signed at the seventh edition of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) held in Yokohama, Japan.
Also at the TICAD event, Japan’s Prime Minister announced that $20 billion will be invested into Africa, over the next three years. The Chinese government will also train 300 Africans in human resource development for the next six years.
Next, on the Big 5 Daily, the Dubai Expo 2020 team is calling on startups to apply for the Innovation Impact Grant. The selected startups will be given the sum of $100,000 at the end of the acceleration programme. Interested startups can click here to apply.
Another gist for the day is that Ecopia Tech raised the sum of $6.5 million to digitally map out Sub-Saharan Africa. The company will leverage artificial intelligence to convert high-resolution imagery of the earth into HD Vector maps for decision-making in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Good news! Toyota, Japanese automobile manufacturer, plans to establish vehicle assembly plant in Ghana and Ivory Coast by 2020. The project is set to kick-off immediately and the MoU has been signed by all agreeing parties.
Before we go, we would like to shout out to the guys at Chefaa for winning the Asia Africa Investment and Consulting (AAIC) award in Japan. The Egypt based startup is an on-demand drugs delivery healthtech startup. Kudos to the team!
