Kenyan Techpreneur, Juliana Rotich has bagged the German Africa Foundation Prize for her work in the digital revolution. The award was presented to her by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel during the recently concluded German African Award held in Berlin, Germany.
The German Africa Prize also dubbed the German Africa Award was launched in 1993 by the German Africa Foundation to contribute to peace, democracy, social market economy and human rights in the African continent. The award also seeks to develop a cordial business relationship between Germany and Africa.
Juliana Rotich is a technopreneur and the co-Founder of Ushahidi, an open-source platform that revolutionized the flow of information globally.

Ushahidi helps people air their opinion, upload events, and incidents happening. This information is posted on the map in real-time thereby making the location of the user-visible. The real-time map is used in over160 countries to manage crisis, natural disaster and to monitor elections.
Juliana Rotich also Co-Founded BRCK, the largest public wi-fi provider in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The German Foreign Office Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa & Sahel, Robert Dölger, has applauded the fit Juliana Rotich attained. Robert noted in his tweet, that the award was well deserved and was in recognition of the technopreneur’s innovative ideas and engagement for connectivity.
Since its inception in 1993, the German Africa Award has been issued to 25 Africans
