A Kenyan startup, PortableVoices, has opened a podcast recording studio in Nairobi. Since launch in 2016, the startup creates podcasts and audio-visual educational resources that offer alternative learning experiences. This new studio will enable other podcasters conveniently curate contents.
We have a new fintech is in the block! Umba, an Irish fintech startup has raised an undisclosed amount of money to provide micro-loans to emerging markets across Africa. They currently operate in Kenya and Uganda, but anyone in the continent can borrow money from the platform.

Chams PLC recently released a controversial letter which is addressed to the Vice President of Nigeria. They claim that the reason the national identity management scheme has not been executed was that they were duped by Mastercard. Chams Founder, Demola Aladekomo, alleged that the NIMC stole their ideas and proceeded to implement it themselves. We will stay on this news as it unfolds.
Remember the Farmgate and Livestock247 partnership we reported? This time around, they have partnered with Best Foods Livestock and Poultry Limited to improve the livestock value chain within Nigeria. Farmgate is a subsidiary of FarmCrowdy, a leading agritech company in Nigeria.
Newsflash! SafeBoda has made plans to expand its services to Nigeria. The motorcycle ride-hailing startup has appointed Babajide Duroshola, the former Community Manager at Andela, as the Country Head in Nigeria. We don’t currently have news of when they will commence operations in Nigeria. But we sure know that they will face competition from the likes of Gokada and MAX.ng.
