The Kenyan startup Sky.Garden was chosen to join the Norwegian-based Katapult Accelerator. Sky.Garden is one of 12 startups that was chosen and will be joining the accelerator program.

Sky.Garden is a software-as-a-service or SaaS platform that is built specifically for African businesses as it provides mobile commerce.

The Kenyan startup was the only startup that was selected based in Africa; the rest were from other countries in the world.

The provided online marketplace allows informal traders, SMEs, and well established business to sell their products to their customers with ease.

Customers are more likely to take advantage of this platform as the process is simple and quick.

There were over 1,000 applicants from all over the world for this program, but only 12 startups including Sky.Garden were chosen.

The selected startups will learn how to use exponential technologies to solve both environmental and societal challenges over the course of three months.

The 12 startups that were selected will also receive $100,000 USD each to aid in their funding.

Anders H. Lier, the chairman and co-founder of Katapult Accelerator pointed out that “these startups are helping us see how we can use exponential technologies like artificial intelligence to improve the state of the world, the environment, health, or other fields.”

Lier wants to not only further expand the possibilities in different fields, but to also increase the potential for success in these chosen startups.
