KongaPay, the payment platform of Konga.com has rolled out new features. It has added withdrawal and Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) features on the platform.

KongaPay is a peer-to-peer payment platform licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. It allows customers to purchase digital goods, Pay-TV subscription and airtime at discounted rates. The new card-less withdrawal feature allows account holders to withdraw cash from any Automated Teller Machine (ATM).

To access this feature, customers have to sign up on kongapay.com and fund their KongaPay wallet. The next step is to log into their wallet, click on the cash-out option and select the cardless cash-out feature. The customer needs to input the amount and the mobile number of the beneficiary to complete the transaction. Note that the mobile number does not have to be registered on KongaPay wallet.

The Vice President of KongaPay, Joshua Fatoye explained the feature below:

‘’Next, the customers will then input their identification numbers (PINs) and One Time Password (OTPs) to complete the transaction. The customer who initiates the transaction will receive a ‘transaction is successful’ message while the beneficiary will get an SMS notification with the withdrawal code details.”

For recipients,

“The recipient should go to any ATM, tap on any of the keys on the keypad to get the screen active and select card-less withdrawal/pay code cash out. Next, s/he is expected to input the 8 to 14-digit withdrawal code earlier sent via SMS and input the cash out the PIN. Lastly, the customer will then input the amount (in multiples of one thousand) and wait to collect the cash.”

The USSD feature is an alternative to web and mobile wallet services. This is targeted at the unbanked and under-served populace. Those who do not have smart devices or live in areas with poor data coverage can dial *574# to access the services.

Fund the KongaPay wallet at designated agents or though KongaPay wallet transfer from a third party.
