GONA, a fintech platform that provides scalable mobile payment solutions for consumers and merchants, has secured undisclosed Pre-A funding. The company aims to use the secured fund to scale its team and upgrade technology. The round was led by Crystal Stream Capital, UnityVC and Shaka VC.
Headquartered in China, Lagos Nigeria remains GONA’s primary focus. Considering that the company has completed its localization process in the state and rolling out majorly in the Yaba axis of Lagos State.
GONA is a fintech platform that enables cashless payments in public buses in Lagos, Nigeria. The company aims to solve the payment and balance issuance inconveniences in the Lagos local travel market. GONA has thousands of active users and processes about 10,000 transactions daily.

According to Liu Xiaojun, Founder and CEO of GONA, the funds will be used for team building and product technology upgrades. The investment will also allow them to employ more locals to further help them integrate the product in the Nigerian market.
According to Larry, a partner at ShakaVC, minibus services offers efficient travel services to millions of Africans. He also mentioned that the market has a very huge potential. Concluding that they will support the Chinese company in local resources, capital, and experience.
