KiwiPay has revealed plans to expand to 7 African countries. The Laos-based payment solution provider gives SMEs access to digitize their payments via the provision of a dynamic QR code solution. KiwiPay aims to leverage this move to foster its global expansion.

KiwiPay provides easy cashless solution and cashless payment capabilities for visa processing in Laos. It aids SMEs in digitizing their payments by providing dynamic QR codes which enable foreign e-wallet transactions like Alipay, SamsungPay, ApplePay, WeChatPay, etc.

The fintech startup is collaborating with governments in frontier markets across South-East Asia and 7 African countries to launch KiwiPay Services. It is in the process of facilitating the swift visa process, considering that its cashless visa payment solution is used by Chinese tourists who leverage Alipay’s facial recognition feature in Vientiane’s Wattay International airport.

Just in 2018 alone, over 900,000 Chinese citizens visited Laos. This further supports the government’s target of receiving over 1.2 million Chinese tourists in 2019. KiwiPay, however, aims to leverage the growing demand for Africa by Chinese tourists.

Gregory Schmidt, CEO & Founder of Kiwi Group noted that KiwiPay’s solution has proven to ease and speed up the Visa process for tourists over time. Noting that they are testing the solutions with the government in South-East Asia and 7 African countries frontier markets.

KiwiPay can be used by retail shops, hotels & restaurants, etc. They currently process over $200 million worth of transactions yearly.
