The Mastercard Foundation Regional Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning in ICT is set to support innovative Edtech startups in Kigali, Rwanda. This support comes in its first request for proposals to accelerate startups in the Edtech sector.

The Education system in Africa has been embattled with diverse issues over the years. This issue varies from incessant strike actions to lack of teaching facilities, inadequate teachers and even improper education curriculum.

It was in a bid to resolve these issues that the Mastercard Foundation Regional Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning in ICT launched the Edtech fund. The Fund provides support for educational technology (EdTech) products in Africa and accelerates the growth of such startups.

The EdTech startups selected by the Foundation will go through a 12-month accelerator programme and receive various supports for their businesses. This includes finance, mentorship from top tech professionals and investment opportunities from Angel investors.

The application for the EdTech fund is currently open. All Edtech innovators can apply via this link. The EdTech innovators in Rwanda should apply through this link
