Shortly after Gokada announced a raise of $5.3 million, Max.ng has raised $7 million from undisclosed investors. They intend to use this fund to scale operation into Ghana, Ivory Coast, and another Nigerian city before the end of 2019.
Motorcycling hailing startups are using technology to disrupt informal motorcycling business in Africa. Although informal motorcycling has been in existence for years, motorcycle ride-hailing transportation seems more profitable. Most of these startups are operating in more than one African country.

The rapid expansion into urban cities whose roads are already flooded with so many cars fuels the demand for alternative transport services. Startups like Gokada, Oride, Max Okada, and Safeboda are employing technology to offer a secure and convenient way of booking rides through mobile apps.
Max.ng started as a motorbike delivery service in Nigeria in 2015. It was the first startup to offer ride-hailing service by 2017. So far, its total rides stand at about 200,000 and they plan to increase to 2 million rides by mid-2020.
Max is set to join several e-hailing motorcycling startups already in Ghana and Ivory Coast. These startups are raising lots of money to extend operations to other countries.
