Google revealed the list of the 12 selected startups for its fourth Launchpad Africa cohort. The startups’ cuts across six African countries; Nigeria (4), Kenya (3), South Africa (2), Ghana (1), Uganda (1) and Zimbabwe (1).
According to Google’s Head of Startup Success and Services, Fola Olatunji-David, they are impressed with the startups that apply for the program. He stated that Google has been able to refine and improve its support for the participating startups.
The 12 selected startups have secured over $600 000 in revenue in the past six months.

They include;
Afara Partners (Nigeria): a platform that provides services to the financially excluded and the under-served in Nigeria.
BrandBook (South Africa): a mobile app that entices users to take a picture of their receipts. This allows it to harvest consumer purchase behaviour across channels.
Elewa (Kenya): a toolkit for establishing scalable high-quality training program across existing education or professional institutions.
Eversend (Uganda): a multi-currency e-wallet that allows users to exchange, spend and send money at the best possible rates.
OZE (Ghana): a platform that ushers’ African small businesses into the digital era. It equips its users to make data-driven decisions that will improve their performance and access capital.
Phenomenal Technologies (Zimbabwe): a platform that offers low-cost field excursions for learners through virtual reality.
Reach (Nigeria): a platform that recognizes, categorizes and interprets transaction data from SMS and other sources. It then makes this data available as individual financial and market insights.
Sortd (South Africa): a platform that aims to re-invent email with the world’s first all-in-one productivity suite for Gmail and GSuite.
TradeBuza (Nigeria): a cloud-based web and mobile application which digitizes contract farming and trade.
Tulaa (Kenya): Tulaa is an online-to-offline marketplace for smallholder farmers in Africa.
Xend (Nigeria): the platform allows its users to make and receive payments, offline and online.
WorkPay (Kenya): cloud-based employee management and payment solution that leverages the power of mobile and biometrics.
The selected startups will receive working space, and access to expert advisers from Google, Silicon Valley, and Africa. They will also receive travel and public relations support all through the three-month program.
