Uber a popular ride-hailing startup has launched Uber Works to connect job seekers to businesses in need of their services. This development is in a bid to curb the rigid processes that surround job hunting.

Uber Work intends to leverage a technology-first approach to offer swifter and seamless means of employment. The platform aims to offer an improved experience for workers and businesses. It is open to businesses seeking workers to fill available shifts.

The Uber Work model aims to provide clarity on available jobs by granting workers access to relevant and available shifts at a location. The platform will grant its users access to work information like; gross pay, work location and skills & required attire. Businesses will also leverage Uber Works to time-track their workers, as it allows users to clock in & out and also log breaks.

Uber Works aims to deliver services that support skill-building and work re-entry. To this end, the platform is partnering with organizations that support workers in their career journey. It partners with staffing agencies like the TrueBlue to provide well-vetted and qualified workers. 

Uber Works plans to grow its educational partnership with ASU to enable eligible workers on the platform to access online classes. It is also partnering with local organizations in Chicago to achieve this.

Its partnership with YWCA Metropolitan Chicago will help people within the Chicago community access works across all Chicago communities. Uber Works subsequently aims to connect with the community and faith-based organizations to provide work for people within that community.
