In the latest Kearney report, dubbed “Global Services Location Index 2021,” (GSLI) Egypt scored 5.62 % to retain its leading position in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region and rank 15th globally.
The report, dubbed “Toward a Global Network of Digital Hubs,” reveals that Egypt was the only MEA country to reach the top 20, with the UAE ranking 25th and Turkey ranked 26th.
The GSLI report assists corporations in deciding where to locate their offshore operations, with the Index analyzing companies’ complicated and fluctuating decisions across more than 60 nations.
The index looks at 47 different indicators in four different categories. The relative weights of each statistic are determined by the importance of each metric in the location decision, as determined by client feedback and industry surveys.
Financial attractiveness (35%), people skills and availability (25%), business environment (25 %), and digital resonance (15%) are the four categories.
The report emphasized Egypt’s progress in growing the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, noting that the country is considered a unique location due to its financial appeal, offering competitive remuneration and infrastructure costs.
According to the report, the Egyptian government is stepping up its “Digital Egypt” initiative, which has resulted in such achievements as an Ericsson digital hub in Cairo developing cognitive software for global markets.
Egypt provides a financially appealing multilingual talent proposition, allowing service providers to cover the entire Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) area from a single outsourcing location.
According to the authors of the GSLI report, in the future, cost competitiveness will not be a primary consideration when selecting or favoring a BPO location. For company leaders and decision-makers, however, digital resonance will be a top focus.
As a result, the 2021 Index included the “digital resonance” rating, which evaluates countries based on market digital skills, digital outputs, corporate activity, and intellectual property legal protections.
The report also noted a trend in favor of work-from-home (WFH) capabilities and highly adaptable company models, which has boosted demand for digital skills.
The 60 countries included in the Global Remote Services Index for 2021 were chosen based on company input, present remote services activity, and government actions to encourage the sector. Responses to Kearney surveys, other industry questionnaires, and information gained in client engagements over the last five years were used to construct the parameters used to measure place attractiveness.
