German automobile company, Mercedes-Benz taken on American electric vehicle manufacturer, Tesla as they unveiled first fully-electric SUV (EQC) in Stockholm.
The EQC which has two electric motors, will have a range of more than 450km, says Mercedes.
The EQC unveil comes amidst the announcement of electric cars from different auto company. Audi will debut its own electric SUV called e-Tron later this month and BMW has started taking orders for its upcoming iX3 electric SUV.
The firm is investing more than €10bn (£9bn) in the expansion of its electric range, and more than €1bn in battery production. This is the first latest SUV model as part of ten EQ cars that Mercedes plans to launch by 2022.

The move for Mercedes to produce the electric car is important as governments around the world are insisting on moving away from internal combustion engines, especially diesel.
According to Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-Benz, “It’s impossible to predict the take-up speed of electric mobility…. “But for us, it’s a mandate. That’s why we said we must integrate electric vehicles with a purpose-built vehicle architecture designed around electric propulsion.”
Mercedes maintained that the car’s main competitors include Audi’s e-Tron, BMW’s iX3, Jaguar’s i-Pace, and Tesla’s Model X.
