Mobiz, a South African SaaS mobile marketing platform, has raised $4 million in pre-Series A funding.
Futuregrowth, Launch Africa, CapaciTech, Endeavor’s Harvest Fund, Allan Grey E-Squared Ventures, and HAVAIC were among the investors in Mobiz’s $4 million pre-Series A funding.
Mobiz is a SaaS mobile marketing platform that connects brands with their customers. Mobiz was founded in 2014 by Greg Chen, the company’s CEO, after discovering that businesses in South Africa struggled to target and engage their current and potential customers through SMS.
A Mobiz campaign provides an in-text link with content-rich, hyper-personalized landing pages that show market-proven outcomes, delivered through the large and reliable reach of SMS (text messages).
“There are a lot of organizations employing SMS marketing in South Africa and Africa in general,” Chen says, “but it’s not bringing them any value because they lack digital marketing skills.” As a result, we came up with a way for businesses to distribute personalized digital information via a personal landing page that can be readily created within the Mobiz platform and delivered via SMS.”
MultiChoice, HomeChoice, New Balance, and Experian are just a few of the over 100 brands with whom the company currently works.
Mobiz intends to launch its platform in the United States, with roughly 200 beta users already on board.
The funding will help the company expand commercially in the United States, improve marketing, sales, and account management, and hire additional people in South Africa.
