Naspers, South Africa’s media and investment company have bid to acquire Just Eat. The offer was made through Prosus, Naspers business unit that was recently listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. If the acquisition falls through, Naspers’ food delivery business will span across 500000 restaurants and 54 countries.
More on South African gist; the Department of Tourism has signed an agreement with Tencent to intensify tourism activities in the country. With the deal, tourism to South Africa will be advertised on WeChat to millions of potential Chinese travelers.
Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE has set aside $250 million in tech startups across the Middle East and North Africa. The fund will be disbursed through Hub71 initiative, by Abu Dhabi’s state investment arm, Mudala. It will provide startups with access to capital business environment and entrance to the global market.
Cartract, Nigerian-based vehicle telematics has hit 1 million subscribers, as revenue increased by 15% between January and August 2019. It released a report which showed that it subscribers increased by 22%, resulting in 1.04 million subscribers with a net addition of over 180000 customers year-on-year.
